The Gamers
One late night in a college dorm, four socially inept geeks immerse themselves in a fantasy world of their own creation. As their characters journey through forbidden kingdoms, ancient ruins, and the forsaken wilderness, the players attempt to solve a mysterious puzzle that could ultimately mean the difference between getting a life and death. Who is The Shadow? Where is The Princess hidden? Will any of them ever find a date? And how long do they have before their annoyed neighbors call the cops?

While not nearly as polished as it’s successors, The Gamers still holds strong, with a decent story line, and plenty of fun along the way. It’s a lot like Portal vs Narbacular Drop.

This is the second Dead Gentlemen / Zombie Orpheus production I watched, the first being “The Gamers: Dorkness Rising”. Now that I’ve watched “Demon Hunters”, I can see an evolution in craft from that in this film after re-watching it.
Being a tabletop RPG gamer myself during the halcyon days of the late 1980s / early 1990s, I absolutely adore this production. Overall, I think it’s not as good as the Dorkness Rising “sequel”, but still a worthy beginning to The Gamers franchise.
